Pioneer Fund Foundation
The Pioneer Fund Foundation was established in 1985 with the intent to encourage students to achieve excellence in education and to enhance the educational program at Fort Calhoun. The initial $30,000 generous bequest from the Neale Foundation was the monetary basis for the Foundation. In its formative years, the Foundation raised money for library books, choir robes, post prom, and teacher awards. In the last 20 years, all funds have been distributed in the form of scholarships. Since its formation, the Foundation board has served as the selection committee and has awarded over $150,000 in scholarships.
The Pioneer Fund Foundation operates on a non-profit basis, exclusively for charitable or educational purposes, including the following:
- To promote the advancement of education
- To promote and support the continuing improvement of the educational programs offered by the Fort Calhoun Community Schools
- To provide new improved educational opportunities for the benefit of students, teachers, residents, and employees of the Fort Calhoun School District
- To recognize excellence and outstanding contributions to the educational program of the Fort Calhoun Community Schools
