Teachers are expected to intentionally incorporate writing activities across all curricular areas to support students’ development of critical thinking, communication, and content mastery. Writing is not solely the domain of language arts; it is a powerful tool for deepening understanding in subjects such as science, social studies, and mathematics. By embedding writing tasks—such as explanations, reflections, summaries, and arguments—into daily lessons, teachers help students clarify their thinking, organize knowledge, and express ideas clearly. The Fort Calhoun High School Guidance Department delivers a comprehensive, developmental counseling program that supports student success in academics, career/college readiness, and personal/social development for all students in kindergarten through grade 12.

The library offers resources and instruction that enhance student achievement and encourage lifelong learning habits.

The Fort Calhoun Jr./Sr. High School Library Media Program offers a comprehensive collection of print and digital resources that support academic achievement, personal growth, and career readiness. The program provides students with access to a wide range of materials that encourage critical thinking, research skills, and responsible use of information. Certified library staff collaborate with teachers to integrate library instruction into coursework, helping students develop information literacy, digital citizenship, and lifelong learning habits.
