Teachers are expected to intentionally incorporate writing activities across all curricular areas to support students’ development of critical thinking, communication, and content mastery. Writing is not solely the domain of language arts; it is a powerful tool for deepening understanding in subjects such as science, social studies, and mathematics. By embedding writing tasks—such as explanations, reflections, summaries, and arguments—into daily lessons, teachers help students clarify their thinking, organize knowledge, and express ideas clearly. This integrated approach strengthens literacy skills and enhances learning outcomes schoolwide.
The Fort Calhoun High School Guidance Department delivers a comprehensive, developmental counseling program that supports student success in academics, career/college readiness, and personal/social development for all students in kindergarten through grade 12.
