FCHS Drama Club Responsibilities and Permission Form
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Congratulations on being a part of the Drama Club! You are in for an awesome experience, filled with comedy, tragedy, mystery….and hard work. Before we begin, there are a few details we need to discuss:
THIS YEAR’S PLAY:
This year we will be performing Goldilocks on Trial by Ed Monk. It is a One Act play in which Goldilocks finds herself on trial for breaking and entering. The play takes exciting and humorous twists and turns as her trial takes place. Will she be found guilty and sent to prison, or will the truth come out?
ATTENDANCE:
The One Act play is our shining moment. It relies on your participation and devotion. To participate and make the school play the best it can be, you must be dependable. This includes being on time, attending all meetings and practices, and being in your place on stage when it is your turn. When you are late or miss a practice or meeting, you hurt yourself and the entire club.
Some (but not many) accommodations can be made for students involved in multiple extracurricular activities; however, if the absences severely interfere with the student’s participation in the play, the student may be removed from the cast/crew. Also, actors involved in the play who also hold a job are asked to speak to the director individually to discuss their membership and participation in the play.
Excessive absences will not be tolerated. Please let me know in advance any time you know that you will be absent for activities, appointments, and the like. Provide a calendar of work schedules if possible. In your absence, someone will need to take your place.
BEHAVIOR:
The same handbook rules that apply during school hours apply to all Drama Club activities. Cell phones and other electronic devices must be put AWAY during practice.
DUTIES:
Any performance would not be successful without the help of each member. Duties include actors/actresses, stage crew, and assistant director. We will work as a group to get all duties done. If you are not sure what needs to be done next, ask your director or assistant director.
REHEARSAL TIMES:
One Act rehearsals will be held at the Community Building on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:00 pm and Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, beginning September 10th. Additional rehearsal times will be added.
Occasionally, a practice may start or end earlier or may be canceled. You will be notified of time changes as early as possible.
OTHER TRANSPORTATION (i.e. field trips, if ever needed):
Students may only use transportation with a school bus/van driver. Written permission must be submitted for a student to ride to or from a performance with anyone else.
AUDITIONS:
Objective scoring checklists will be used to regulate fairness adequately. The director will have the final say in assigning parts.
FUNDRAISERS:
Currently, the FCHS Drama Club does not have any fundraisers, but it may be in the best interest of the club to do some fundraising in the future. This would enable our club and members to grow in many ways. If there is a parent/student that is interested in spearheading this endeavor, please contact me.
