COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to develop proficiency in theory and operation of arc welders, wire welders, gas equipment, and others. Students will be required to complete various welds to demonstrate their welding competencies. Students interested in manufacturing should take this class. Mode of presentation: lecture, discussion, film, video, Internet, demonstrations, lab work, and whiteboard/chalkboard exercises. Grading procedures: tests, quizzes, major projects, lab exercises, cleanliness, and class participation. Student skills and knowledge to be gained: the ability to safely use tools and equipment; to demonstrate SMAW welding (arc/stick); to demonstrate MIG welding (wire); to demonstrate use of TIG welding; and to understand use of oxyacetylene welding.
