COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Instruction and practice in skills essential for public speaking will be provided. The activities will initially enable students to become better listeners and to overcome apprehension about speaking. This will be followed by instruction in delivery techniques, interpretation of literature, selection and organization of a speech topic, and the use of different modes of speaking. Students will complete worksheets related to the units, participate in group and individual activities, and present speeches for evaluation. Time for research will be provided within the class period.
