COURSE: Art I & II (Composition & Form)
AREA OF STUDY: Art
COURSE LENGTH: Two Semesters
COURSE TYPE: Elective
PREREQUISITE: None
GRADE AVAILABILITY: 9, 10, 11, & 12
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Develop knowledge of the elements of art. Develop skills so that students can draw realistically through a series of exercises (units) that will enable the students to draw what they see. Students will then put these skills together to create unique works of art. Drawing will be at the foundation of the course, but a large variety of subjects and media will be introduced throughout the course. The idea is to expose the students to a large variety of media in smaller and shorter lessons, and then expand and combine those media in future art courses.
This information will be presented through the use of presentations, demonstrations, reading, vocabulary words, examples of other artists, and guided work time. A review will precede each test given. The review will cover the material taught in the class.
