COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Drafting is designed to introduce students to basic drafting methods on paper as well as the computer. Students will learn to operate the CAD program Vector Works. Some of the drawings created will include; orthographic projections, isometric, working drawings, detail representation, title blocks, bill of material, charts, graphs, and much more. This class will primarily consist of multi-view drawings. Students interested in architecture, construction, and manufacturing should take this class. Mode of presentation: lecture, film, video, Internet, group work, student projects, demonstrations, and lab work. Grading procedures: Tests, quizzes, lab projects, and daily work. Student skills and knowledge to be gained: to grow in the knowledge of the design and drafting career area; to develop skills in sketching; to understand geometric constructions, angles arch, ellipses; to draw orthographic and isometric drawings; to draw development or intersections; to draw section views; to draw revolutions; to draw with multiple scales; and to draw threads and fasteners.
