COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Sophomore English consists of literary exposure to nonfiction, drama, short stories, fiction/novel, and poetry. Vocabulary and literary terms are studied with each selection in the literary units. Quarterly book reports are required which include both a written and objective test. Written requirements include the informative essay, narrative essay, descriptive essay, and a research paper. Grammar units will include parts of speech, sentence structure, mechanics, usage, and written organization. Accelerated Reader is used as a grading unit.
