COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to use what is known in the health sciences to help young people make healthy lifestyle choices. Students will learn to differentiate between healthful and harmful behaviors and their impact on the body. A particular emphasis will be placed on the anatomy of the cardiovascular, skeletal, muscular, digestive, and reproductive systems. Mental health, relationships, growth and development, nutrition, exercise, drugs, and safety issues will be included in our units of study. Discussion of textbook units will be supplemented with group projects, activities, computer programs, and models.
