COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students are expected to learn various materials presented through lecture, discussion, and demonstration while in the midst and context of a performance-oriented ensemble. Material will include areas of music theory- which incorporates, among other things, the science of the properties of sound and the physics of acoustics- and music history, which is integrally tied to world history and anthropology. Performance mediums will include marching band, concert band, and pep band. As a part of a performing ensemble, students are expected to continually develop their instrumental performance skills. The Romantic Emphasis is offered every four years.
